KIRKLAND, Wash.---The Escanaba Junior Girls open Little League World Series play later this afternoon in suburban Seattle with a game against Honaker, Virginia.
The Virginia State Champs won four games by shutout (1-0, 17-0, 14-0, 7-0) in the always-tough Southeastern Regional tournament. They beat Tennessee, 6-4, in the championship game, to earn the trip to the World Series.

Escanaba, of course, were the comeback kids, pulling out a couple of tight games to win the Central Regional.
Most notably, rallying from 7-0 down to beat Indiana in the Central Regional semifinal, then scoring three runs in the seventh inning of the championship game to turn back Poland, Ohio, 3-1.

Escanaba's game that was scheduled for Sunday was cancelled when Indonesia declined to send a team to the World Series.
