Gladstone Indians Close Regular Season With Split

GLADSTONE---One game was good, the other, not so much.

The Gladstone Indians picked up a dramatic 6-5 win over the Eastern U.P. Travelers in the first game of a double header on Saturday. Then the boys suffered their worst loss of the year in the nightcap, falling to the Travelers, 16-0.

The opener was tied 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning when the Soo scored two runs to take the lead. But in the bottom of the inning, the Indians were down to their final strike when Hardwick connected for his fourth home run of the season.

The three-run shot gave the Indians the walk-off victory, and their 35th win of the season.

In the nightcap, Indians Manager Jim Groleau elected to start a number of younger players in the season finale, and it didn't go well, with the 16-0 loss.

So, Gladstone finishes its season with a 35-9 record. The boys will head to Sault Ste. Marie for the Upper Peninsula Zone Five Championships next weekend.  Here is the schedule:
