Gladstone Braves Open Tennis Season With Win

GLADSTONE---The boys tennis season got off to a good start on Monday for the Gladstone Braves. Gladstone won three singles matches and three doubles matches to post a 6-2 win over the Gwinn Model Towners at Pfotenhauer Park.

The Braves' top three singles players won their matches in straight sets. At #1 singles, Aaron Parmet topped Gwinn's Wade Zaborowski, 6-2, 6-2. At #2 singles, Dan Williams beat Gwinn's Derek Reetz, 6-1, 6-1. At #3 singles, Neal Sabin got past Gwinn's Jesse Mottes, 6-2, 6-3. Gladstone's #4 singles player, Pete Weyers, lost his match, 3-6, 4-6.

In doubles play, the Braves also won three of four matches. The #1 doubles team of Bryce Wolf and Cody Frazer lost the first set to Gwinn's Dallas St. Arnould and Alex Redlon, 6-4. But the Gladstone boys rallied to win the next two sets, 6-1, 6-2.

Gladstone's #2 doubles team of Josh DeVet and John Hammar lost, but the #3 team of Christian Tackman and Hans Ahola picked up a win. And the Braves' #4 team of Justin Jurek and Jeremy Kadish also managed to win, helping the Braves team clinch the win.
