FIRST STEP: Escanaba Softball Takes District Title

ESCANABA---The Escanaba High School softball team captured a district championship on Thursday, with a 10-3 win over Sault Ste. Marie in the semifinals, and a 3-0 victory over Petoskey in the championship game. In the semifinal game, Chloe Dubord hit two home runs and Breleigh Reinhart also went deep. Landry Bray pitched a complete-game three-hitter with 13 strikeouts. In the championship game, Grayson LaMarche threw a perfect game…no baserunners against her in seven full innings, striking out 16 batters. Katey Lamb drove in all three runs with a double, sacrifice fly, and ground out. Petoskey finished a nice season with a 28-8 record. The Eskymos, ranked No. 1 in the state in Division Two, improved to 34-4 on the season and will advance to the regional tournament, scheduled for June 7 at Alma College. |
