IN OUR BACK YARD: NFL Draft At Lambeau Field

GREEN BAY---
Perhaps the biggest football event ever held in Green Bay was held Thursday at Lambeau Field as the National Football League put on its annual Players Draft.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell estimated that 125,000 people jammed into the Lambeau area, a number that is more than the entire normal population of Green Bay.

It's the first time that Green Bay has ever hosted the event, and it will continue through Saturday night.

The Tennessee Titans had the first pick, and took University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward. The Jacksonsville Jaguars “traded up” to number two, and selected University of Colorado wide receiver Travis Hunter.

Fans for virtually all 32 of the NFLs teams showed up for the event, with some staying in hotels more than an hour away because all of the rooms in Green Bay were sold out for months.

Hundreds of police officers were on hand to direct traffic on I-41 and the surface streets that lead to Lambeau Field.

The festivities are far from over. The first round was held Thursday night, but Rounds Two and Three will be held Friday night and Rounds Four-through-Seven will be held on Saturday.

RRN Sports and its team of Jay Fisher, Mindy Wills, Jack Hall, and Hudson Huff will continue to provide coverage on the radio and on-line starting at 2:00 ET Friday.
