Meyer lost to the eventual state champion in the semifinals, losing to Hunter Ross of Almont, 443-406. Meyer was state runner up last year, and semifinalist this year.

Earlier in the day, Meyer had qualified from the round of 16 by rolling games of 192, 299 (almost a perfect game), 206, 222, 188, and 172, for a series total of 1,278 pins.

IRON MOUNTAIN/KINGSFORD BOYS COMPETE IN D-2: The combined Iron Mountain/Kingsford boys bowling team came oh-so-close to advancing to the team tournament in Waterford. Individually, senior Blake Flaminio rolled games of 191, 170, 211, 185,  227 and 279, for a series total of 1,261 pins. That qualified Flaminio as the sixth seed, and he defeated the 11th seed, Evan Nowicki of Forest Hills Eastern, 400-323. In the quarterfinals, Flaminio beat the third seed, Nicholas Suemnick of New Boston Huron, 419-403, to move into the final four.

In the semifinal, Flaminio faced the seventh seed, Jordan Butler of Vicksburg, who had upset the second seed in the quarterfinals. Butler defeated Flamino in both games, winning overall, 420-359. Butler ended up winning the state championship from that No. 7 spot.
