Gladstone Indians Drop Tune-Up Game In Suamico

SUAMICO, Wis.---The Gladstone Indians American Legion Baeeball team used five pitchers and lost to the Bay Port Pirates, 8-3, Wednesday night, in Green Bay, as the team prepares to play in a tournament this weekend in Antigo. The Indians were limited to threee base hits by a pair of Bay Port pitchers, and they losr for the sixth time in their last seven games, falling to 6-7 on the season after a 5-1 start. ![]() Cooper Sanville, Austin Pepin, and Cooper Curtis also threw for Gladstone. None of tyhem threw more than 40 pitches as the Indians prepare for a long weekend of baseball in Antigo. In Wednesday's game, Gladstone scored a run in the second inning on an RBI single by Isaac Ketchum, cutting the Bay Port lead to 3-1. The other two runs, with the Indians trailing 6-1, came home on an RBI single by Thorbahn, with an error allowing the second run to score. Jake Olson was tough on the mlound for Bay Port, striking out seven batters in five innings of work. He allowed all three runs on three hits, and walked four batters. Sawyer Larson drove in two runs with a single and a sacrafice fly. Drew LeClaire had three hits and drove in two runs, as Bay Port improved to 6-8 on the season. Gladstone will play at a tournament in Antigo with one game on Friday, two on Saturday, and at least one on Sunday. ![]() |
