PERFECT SEASON: Miners Smack Westwood 44-0
MARQUETTE---The Negaunee High School football team dominated the Westwood Patriots, 44-0, Thursday night, in a game played in Marquette due to heavy snow in the western part of the county. The Miners finished the season with a 9-0 record while Westwood finished 4-5. Niko Lukkarinen scored four rushing touchdowns, including a 49-yarder on the first play of the game. His touchdowns came from 49, 20, 17, and two yards out. Kai Lacar added an 85-yard touchdown run, and Easton Palomaki also scored on the ground. The icing on the cake, again, was Bode Bonevitz, as the big fullback scored a touchdown on the ground for a second straight week. Now the Miners will need their field shoveled off in time for a playoff game next Friday nigt, likely against the Houghton Gremlins. The Michigan High School Athletic Association will announce the 256-team field (including 32 in Division Six) on Sunday afternoon. |
