Kingsford Pulls Away Late To Beat Gladstone, 52-40

GLADSTONE---The Kingsford High School boys basketball team ramped up its defensive pressure in the fourth quarter, and attacked the basket on offense, to pull away from the Gladstone Braves, 52-40, Thursday night in Gladstone. It was a four-point game in the final minutes before the Flivvers finished on an 8-0 run. ![]() Gladstone, playing for the third time in four nights, fell to 3-10 overall. The Braves were led by Kaden Gibbs with 14 points. Drake Johnson added ten points, including six in the first quarter. Caden Downey knocked down two triples for six points, and Elliot Vitito also had two triples and finished with eight points for Gladstone. Kingsford led, 10-6, after the first quarter before the Braves went on a 7-0 run to take a 13-10 lead. A Gibbs driving layup tied the game at 18-18 for Gladstone at haftime. The Flivvers turned the tide in the fourth quarter with defense, as Nora and Mike Meneguzzo each had steals and passed to the other for baskets. The Flivvers visit Marquette in another Great Northern Conference game Friday, while Gladstone is off until Tuesday when they try to get revenge on the road in Negaunee. ![]() |
