ESCANABA---
The Escanaba High School wrestling dominated in the lower weight classes and beat a shorthanded Bark River-Harris Broncos team, 48-33, to wrap up a triangular meet in Escanaba.

Escanaba got pins from Cade Krueger, Eli Gardner, and Charley McInerney at 112, 119, and 125 pounds, to grab a quick 18-0 lead on the scoreboard.

Escanaba’s Trevor DeGrand and Bark River’s Josh Riley put on an entertaining match at 130, with Riley eventually winning on points after nearly pinning DeGrand earlier in the match.
Escanaba’s Trent Turchin needed only 25 seconds to register a pin at 135, making it a 24-3 Eskymo lead. Then at 140, another entertaining match between Escanaba’s Adam Reimer and Bark River’s Ethan Messersmith.

Messersmith was on the verge of a pin when he trapped Reimer, but the period clock ran out, and Reimer eventually pinned Messersmith at the 3:02 mark.

That gave Escanaba a 30-3 lead, but David Mosse delivered the Broncos a pin over Spanish foreign exchange student Eloi Selles at 145 pounds.

At 152, Escanaba’s Tommy Neumann needed only 38 seconds to pin Bark River’s Evan Siedlecki in a spot that normally would be held by Noah Gagne for the Broncos. Gagne, and his brother,171-pounder Kaleb, have both transferred schools, leaving huge holes in the BR-H lineup.

BR-H was also without Wyatt and Dillon Raab, who are both dealing with shoulder injuries, leaving holes at 145 and 160 for the Broncos.

Neumann’s win gave Escanaba a 36-9 lead. BR-H got pins from North Central Jets’ Drew Allgeyer at 189 and Lane Nehring at heavyweight, but Esky had enough points to win the match, 48-33.
