Eskymos Pull Away From Flivvers In Sloppy Contest
ESCANABA---The Escanaba Eskymos rode the pitching of Riley Lamb and took advantage of seven Kingsford errors in an 11-2 sin in a game that was close until the sixth inning. Hunter Lancour drove in four runs for Escanaba. Lamb struck out four batters, and although he walked five people, did not allow an earned run. Still, Lamb was trailing in the second inning, 2-0, after Carter Kreski led off with a single and Lamb walked two batters. Two runs came in on an error at third base. But Kingsford's defense was even worse, committing eight errors. Escanaba got an unearned run in the second inning, and Hunter Lancour singled in the tying run in the fourth inning. Another error gave the Eskymos the lead, then Collin Arnt smacked a two-run single. That made it 5-2, and the Eskymos put six more runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning as Kingsford made errors on three consecutive plays. Lancour made them pay with a two-run double to the fence, while Nick LaFave and Jared Hanson also had RBI hits. Lamb threw 95 pitches to earn the win. He was relieved by Brett Schlenvogt, who allowed one hit but no runs in the seventh inning. Kingsford strarting pitcher Andrew Paupore was the hard-luck loser, with faulty defense behind him. He did walk five batters but he allowed only three hits in 5 1/3 innings. Riley Juneau came in when Paupore reached his 105 pitch count in the sixth inning, and he got the final two outs. Lancour drove in four runs on two base hits, while Arnt also had two hits and two RBI. Kreski had two hits for the Flivvers. Escanaba improved to 17-5 on the season. Kingsford fell to 15-9. |
