GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Braves scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun the Iron Mountaineers, 6-5, in high school baseball action on Thursday. Owen Trombley had the game-winning hit, capping a wild seventh inning that saw Iron Mountain break a 2-2 tie in the top of the inning with three runs to grab a 5-2 lead. Julian walked five batters and hit two batters, allowing the Braves two runs in the first inning. ![]() Darmogray allowed only one hit, to Bryce Pietrantonio, but that hit did not lead to a run. Still, the game was tied 2-2, heading into the final inning. Eli Lofholm was safe on an error to start the inning, then Caleb Evosovich drew a walk. Darmogray got Julian to line out to third base, and Pietrantonio flew out. But Ian Anderson smoked a two-run double to the fence and Jurgen Kleiman ripped an RBI double. That made it 5-2 goimg to the bottom of the seventh, and Anderson came on to pitch. Darmogray was hit by a pitch to start the inning, but Anderson got Carter Vanbrocklin on a strikeout off a 3-2 pitch. Braeden Sundquist drew a walk, and then Blake Krouth came threough with an RBI single to right field for the Braves' first base hit of the afternoon. That made it 5-3, and Cam Kelly struck out moments later. The ball got away from the catcher, however, and Kelly was safe at first, and it was a 5-4 game. Trevor Hanson came up with runners on second and third, and Gladstone manager Lucas Lacosse, who called multiple bunts and squeezes throughout the game, tried to tie the game with a bunt. ![]() Darmogray got the complete game win on the hill for the Braves, allowing three hits ad five runs (none of them earned).
