Stenberg, Eskymos Dominate Marquette Challenge
MARQUETTE----Andrew Stenberg dominated again on Thursday.The Escanaba High School senior raced past the competition to win the Marquette Chellenge at Presque Isle Park. Stenberg won the race in 17 minutes, 5 seconds. That was a full 17 seconds faster than second place Davey Luplow of Menominee. Escanaba had five runners finish amongst the top 11 boys. Stenberg was followed by Jared Ogren in fifth place (18:20), Eric Cousineau in seventh (18:24), Gabe Ostrenga in tenth (18:47), and Brad Derouin was eleventh (18:51). In the team score, Escanaba had 34 points and Menominee was second with 57. Gladstone finished tenth amongst the 15 teams with 269 points. Andrew Olesak was the top Braves runner, finishing in 29th place with 20:35. CLICK HERE to see all of the boys scores, via the folks at Superior Timing. In the girls race, Calumet was the overall winner, with Marquette second and Menominee third. Escanaba finished fourth (87 points). Gladstone was fifth (196 points). Escanaba's Aimee Geise finished seventh in 21:03 and Aubree Peterson was ninth overall in 21:18. The top finisher for Gladstone was Josie Gardner, who finished in 29th place in 23:59.
