SEASON OVER: Bark River Bucs Lose 1-0 Nailbiter
![]() MENOMINEE---The American Legion Baseball season came to an end on Friday for the Bark River Bucs as they dropped a 1-0 decision to Hudson at the Class A state tournament in Menominee. Travis Carson's RBI double with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning brought in the game's only run, scoring Trent Longbrake, who led off with a single. Carson's hit ended a pitcher's dual between Bark River's Duner Englund and Hudson's Griffin Reynard, both of whom threw complete games, and well under their pitch limits. ![]() Bark River had a chance to reak the 0-0 tie in the top of the seventh inning when Logan Heim and Kadin Mustafa got back-to-back base hits to lead off the inning. Matt Richer bunted them into scoring position, but with runners on second and third, Cole Ray and Sam Hall both popped up to the second baseman to end the threat. "Well, it was a good season," Heim said. "We actually had a good run. I couldn't ask for anything else. It was a good game until the last inning. Freshman year, we started this team, and now it's over." In the first six innings, Bark River had just two base hits (Richer in the second and Ray in the fifth) but Reynard walked only one batter. Reynard was helped by a line-drive double play on a screamer hit to first baseman Matt Kaufman by Hall with a runner on base in the second inning. Englund allowed just three hits over the first six innings before allowing the three hits in the seventh inning that ultimately decided the game. Bark River ended its season with a 21-15 record.
