HERMANSVILLE---The 80th Gold Medal Classic basketball tournament wrapped up Sunday night as a snowstorm raged outside the Hermansville Community Center. In the Class A Final, Dexters of Menominee, made up of Michigan Tech basketballers, defeated Crystal Falls McNeil Oilers, 57-49, making up for an earlier loss to the Oilers. Jordan Chartier led a balanced Dexters attack with 12 points. Austin Armga had 18 for Crystal Falls, and he was named the tournament MVP. ![]() In the Class EE Final, Norway Deweys Brownbread defeated Hermansville Whitens Dry Kiln, 57-48, as Justin Bal scored 22 points. Dry Kiln was led by Trevor Ekberg with 19. Bal was named the MVP. The All- Tournament team included Josh Granquist and Ekberg from Dry Kiln; Tom Granquist from Wildwood; Bal and Bobby Kleiman from Norway; and Lucas Dembrowski from the Hermansville Superior Welding team. The Class E final was not played because of weather. Juice Promotions won by forfeit over Daggett Kakuks. Preston Lauscher was named the MVP. The All Tournament team incuded Steve Schazenski and Tyler Eland from Kakuks, Lauscher from Juice Pomotions, Brad Spindler from Escanaba, and Mike Polfus from Nadeau Pharmaceutical. In the Women's Finals, Crystal Falls McNeil Oilers for revenge for an earlier loss, beatring Felch Anderson Logging, 69-53. Lexi Gussert led Crystal Falls with 27 points, while Miranda Jacobson led Felch with 20. Gussert was named the MVP. The women's All-Tournament Team included Gussert and Maria Stanchowicz from the Oilers; Emily Ellis and Jacobson from Felch; Mariah Dunham from Steinhaus Insurance, and Jordan Kraemer from the Bay College team that filled in for Gaby Sheboygan, which couldn't make it because of weather conditions in Wisconsin. ![]() |
