NMU Hosting USA, Swedish Greco Wrestling Teams

MARQUETTE---The Northern Michigan University Olympic Training Site will host a dual meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, in the Superior Dome wrestling room.
The meet will be between USA Wrestling’s Junior World team and a team from Sweden.
The teams are visiting NMU as a part of the Superior International Wrestling Camp which runs through June 11.
The NMU-OTS team will be represented by three athletes who are on the U.S. Junior World Team: Randon Miranda, 50kg; Dalton Roberts, 55kg; Jamal DeArmond, 66kg.
Team Sweden is preparing for European Championships while Team USA is getting ready for the United World Wrestling Junior World Championships in Macon, France Aug. 30-Sept. 4. This is the third year the OTS is holding the Superior International Wrestling Camp and, with more than100 athletes attending, it will be the largest.
The camp provides U.S. athletes the opportunity to train alongside an international team and also to prepare for summer competitions. Joining the camp will be members of USA Wrestling’s Junior World Championships Team, which will compete Aug. 30-Sept. 4in Macon, France. The NMU-OTS has three athletes on that team.
Training will consist of four days of practice and two days of competition, giving every wrestler an opportunity to wrestle multiple matches.
“This is the time to make mistakes and learn from them,” said NMU coach Rob Hermann. “With a strong international team and top U.S. participants, athletes will be able to pick up new skills and work on any weaknesses they may have.”
