ESCANABA---The Escanaba Eskymo hockey team is being recognized for its work outside of the hockey rink. The team has been named Academic All-State by the Michigan Hockey Coach's Association. The team's cumulative grade point average was higher than 3.0 during the school year. Jack Williams, Calvin Pinar, and Hunter LaMarch were also honored individually with All-State Academic Awards from the MHCA.
Williams was the top Eskymo in the classroom, winning the team's Academic Award for a second straight year. Williams was also given the Escanaba Junior Hockey Association's coveted Ovid Provo Award for the 2015-16 season during the hockey banquet this week.
