WELLS---Levi Wunder picked up where he left off last spring.
The 2015 Escanaba High School graduate, by far the All-time leading scorer in program history, skated in the EHS Alumni Game at the Hannahville Ice & Turf on Sunday. And Wunder was his usual self, scoring eight goals as the Black team beat the Orange, 13-9.
Wunder scored the first three goals for the Black team, but the Orange team hung in there through the first 25-minute half of the game.
Jared Dagenais scored twice and Brent Kallio added a lone tally as the orange team tied the game at 3-3 late in the half.
Devin Barton scored the first of his three goals for the Black team to make it 4-3.
In the second half, Mark Gauthier scored two straight goals to put the Orange ahead, 5-4. But Barton scored a short time later to tie the game for the Black, and then Wunder picked up his fourth goal to make it 6-5. The Orange team battled back again as Kallio scored for the second time, and Justyn Doucette put his team in front, 7-6.
That would be the last time the Orange team would have the lead. Wunder scored two more goals, and Barton completed his hat trick, making it a 9-7 lead for the Black.
Nick Vandermissen and Steve Wood added late goals for the Black, and Wunder scored two more, giving him eight marquers in the contest.
For the Orange, Doucette scored his second goal late in the game, and Gauthier completed his hat trick in the final minute.
Austin Young earned the win in net. Brodie Goddard took the loss. Goddard had to be a tired man, as he also played goal in the first alumni game earlier on Saturday. That game was won by the White team, 8-7, over the Black.
