Gladstone Indians Whip Ishpeming; Now 7-0

ISHPEMING----The Gladstone Indians improved to 7-0 on the season with a 10-1 win over the Ishpeming Blue Storm Friday night in Ishpeming.

In Ishpeming, fhe Tribe ripped 13 base hits in the victory. Cody Frazer led the way again, going 4-for-4 with two runs batted in, and Paul Tomaszewski returned home from college in time to make his season debut. He had two hits and drove in a run.

Freshman Justin Jurek continued his early-season hot streak by getting two more hits and driving in a pair of runs. Jared Stenson added a hit, two sacrafices, and two runs batted in. Hayden Hardwick also had two hits for the Indians.

In the third inning, Christian Groleau led off with a single, then Jurek got a hit. Tomaszewski bunted them over, and then Frazer RBI single had an RBI single to make it 1-0. Stenson's sacrafice fly made it 2-0. Then, the fourth inning was a game-changer.

Blake Ballard lead off walk, and with one out, Matt Weyers was hit by a pitch. The runners advanced to second and thrid on a groundout.  Then with two outs, Jurek singled to score  two runs, and he advanced to second on the throw.  Tomaszewski singled home Jurek and then, Frazer singled home Tomaszewski. It was 6-0.

In the sixth inning, Stenson, Ballard, and Hardwick had RBI singles to make it 10-0.

Ishpeming's Jacob Finegan singled home Zach Niemi in the bottom of the inning to break the shut out, and to avoid the mercy rule.

Frazer was again the star for the Indians. He has now gone seven straight at-bats with a hit. In this game, he also stole three bases.

On the mound, Ballard was the winning pitcher, going four innings, allowing no runs on two hits. He walked four batters, however. Colin O'Neal pitched two innings of relief, allowinmg a run on two hits. And Luke LaCosse finished it off in the seventh inning.

Sawyer Fisher took the loss for Ishpeming, allowing six runs on nine hits in four innings.
