GLADSTONE---It was an idea several years in the making: a high school track meet under the lights. And they pulled it off Friday night in Gladstone, as the Braves hosted Norway, Rapid River, Bark River-Harris and Stephenson in both boys and girls track.
There were no team scores kept.
Gladstone's boys led the way with ten first place finishes. Justin Pederson was in on four of them. He won the 100, the high jump, the long jump, and he anchored the winning 800 relay team. Kyle Arvan won the 800 run and the mile run, Riley Ballard won the 200, and Jared Vuksan won the discus (131 feet, 11 inches) and the shot put.
Rapid River's Robert Metter broke a school record in the pole vault (13.1).
Gladstone's girls also dominated, winning both the 400 and 800 relays, and Josie Gardiner won both the one mile and two mile races.
