Bay College men's basketball head coach Matt Johnson announced his resignation on Wednesday, leaving the program that he started nine years ago. The Escanaba Eskymos and Gladstone Braves met for the second time in three days in softball on Monday, and this time, the result was different. The Braves beat the Eskymos, 1-0, to win the championship of the Escanaba tournament on Saturday, but in the return trip to Lemmerand Park on Monday, Gladstone could not repeat the feet against its rivals. The Michigan High School Athletic Association Representative Council has decided to make changes to the football playoff procedures. Starting this fall, all regions will be seeded, based on playoff points, with seeds 1, 4, 5, and 8 going into one district, and seeds 2, 3, 6, and 7 going into another district. The council also approved a proposal to suspend any official who makes aggressive or intentional contact with a student or official. The Escanaba Eskymos lost twice in downstate Clio on Friday. The first game was a classic, with the fourth-ranked Mustangs winning, 1-0. Pitcher Addie Taylor threw a no-hitter for Clio, and Escanaba senior Landry Bray threw a one-hitter. That one hit, by Clio's Summer Stevens, was an RBI double in the third inning.
