Bay College Ladies Finish Season With DH Sweep

The Bay College Norse softball team wrapped up its season with a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday, beating Alpena Community College, 10-6 and 5-2. The Norse ended their season with a bang, as sophomore Izzy Drabant smoked a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Norse Softball Team Drops Three To Delta Pioneers
The Bay College Norse softball team dropped three of four games to the Delta College Pioneers out of the Saginaw area over the weekend. The Norse lost two one-run heartbreakers on Friday, 11-10 and 4-3, before winning the Saturday opener, 5-2. The Pioneers went back downstate with a 13-3 win in the finale. The Kingsford High School baseball team won a Great Northern Conference game for the second straight night Wednesday night, taking out the Escanaba Eskymos, 9-1, at Al Ness Field.   • NMU Women's Track Team Competes In California
    The Northern Michigan Track & Field team finished its California competition at the Beach Invitational on Saturday, where a dozen Wildcats competed across multiple events and earned good results against some of the country's top Division I and II competition.Gianna Hoving finished in 5th place in the 1500m with a time of 4:36.31. In a tightly contested 4x100m relay, NMU's group of Ellyse Wolfrath, Jahtivya Williams, Crystal Walker, and Baux Truckey finished at 47.21. NMU will take part in the Elaine Leigh Invite next Friday and Saturday, April 19-20. The meet will be hosted by Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
  • NMU Men's Golf Team Finishes Eighth At GLIAC Finals
     The NMU men's golf team wrapped up competition from the GLIAC Championships from the Stoatin Brae Club with their second round +13 (297), giving them a weekend total of +39 (607) to finish 8th overall. "Great finish by Arthur [Ylitalo] as a freshman in his first GLIAC Championship," stated head coach Eric Johnson, who saw Arthur Ylitalo lead the 'Cats with his even round of 71 with three birdies today. "Obviously we are disappointed in our finish, but we know we have the ability to be right there. Definitely a lot of positive things to build on for next year."
