GRAYSLAKE, Ill.---The Bay College Norse women’s basketball team raced to a 24-3 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 65-34 win over the College of Lake County Lancers Friday night in northern Illinois. The Norse knocked down 12 three-point baskets in the game, seven of them by Kennedy Englund. She finished with a game-high 21 points. “We’re a pretty decent team when we’re moving the ball and looking inside and out,” Norse Coach Matt Gregory said. “Obviously, being aggressive in attacking and finding the open person. Not everybody is going to be playing zone (defense) though. But when you have high-percentage nights and the ball is going in, a lot of different things can go in your favor.” Lake County (3-19) had just six women on the roster. Two of them played all 40 minutes, and two others played 39 minutes. They were led by Danielle Hayes with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kyleen Marquardt contributed nine points on three triple and she led the Lancers with 12 rebounds. Bay College (8-13) got eleven points and nine rebounds from Madison Olsen. Andie Arsenault had eight points and 11 rebounds, and Chey Koski contributed seven points and eight rebounds. Bay amassed 52 rebounds in the game and had a total of 12 three-point baskets. The Norse stay in the Chicagoland area on Saturday and will face Triton College. The Trojans are 19-3 on the season and have won six straight games. Game time is 2:00 ET/1:00 CT. |
