NCA's Raab Signs Letter To Play Football At Alma

POWERS---North Central High School senior Wyatt Raab, a member of the two-time state champion Jets, signed his National Letter of Intent Wednesday to attend school and play football at Alma College in Lower Michigan. Raab was joined by many of his classmates at the signing inside the NCA High School gym, as well as his two brothers and parents.

Raab rushed for more than 1,000 yards in his final Jets season, in which he rarely played more than a half of any game. Raab scored on touchdown runs of 30 and 15 yards in the state championship game as North Central blasted Colon, 63-0, in the Superior Dome.

In his first state championship game eleven months earflier, Raab was in beast mode, with four touchdowns on offense, and a safety on defense, as NCA beat Portland St. Patrick, 70-48.

"Great relationship with the coaches," Raab said. "I like the coaches. They were the first to contact me. I like everything about the school. It's just amazing. The people. Location. So that's why I picked Alma. They look like they have a reall;y bright future. It's where I want to be."

Raab played eight-man football at NCA, but of course, college football is 11-man.

"I played 11-man before I moved here (from Illinois), Raab said. "Moving here, it was more of an adustment to eight-man. So, popping back up to eleven man, I'm excited."

Raab turned down offers from Lakeland University and Concordia University, both in Wisconsin, and Finlandia University here in the U.P. He says Wisconsin Lutheran also contacted him, as did Michigan Tech University.

Raab will major in physcial therapy at Alma.
