TENNIS TIE: Delta County Rivals Battle To Draw

GLADSTONE---The Escanaba Eskymos and Gladstone Braves played two matches on Monday. Well, sort of. The Eskymos beat the Braves in the completion of a suspended match, and then the two teams played to a 4-4 tie in Gladstone.

It rained two weeks ago in Escanaba, and seven of the eight matches were completed, with Escanaba winning four of them and Gladstone taking three.

The only match that wasn't complete...the #4 singles match between Escanaba's Amber Young and Gladstone's Lilly Griebel. That match was tied after two sets, and the third set was finished on Monday. Yang won the final set, 6-3, so Escanaba won the match, 5-3.

The regularly-scheduled match was about as close as can be, with both the Eskymos and Braves winning two singles matches and two doublesmatches apiece.

The only match to go three sets was at #3 singles, with Gladstone's Kate Matthews topping Escanaba's Ukiah Penegor in come-from-behinf fashion, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
