Braves, Shorthanded Mustangs Play To Tennis Tie
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Braves and Munising Mustangs played to a 4-4 tie on Thursday in the Braves' final match on the home court of Pfotenhauer Park. The Mustangs were without their #1 singles player due to track regionals, and forefeited the #4 singles match. Gladstone swept singles while Munising swept doubles. Munising senior Cade Contreras, normally a doubles player, played his first-ever varsity singles match, and lost to Gladstone's Sean Holm, 6-2, 6-1. Gladstone's #2 singles player, Danny Pederson, defeated Munising freshman Mitchell Coyne, 6-3, 6-4. The Braves got a win at #3 singles from Ben Flaminio in straight sets. The Mustangs also had a mixed lineup at doubles, but all four doubles teams won in straight sets. Also on Thursday, Escanaba won its match at Menominee, 7-1.
