Negaunee Girls Run To Munising Invite Championship
MUNISING---The Negaunee Miners had the top two runners and easily won the Al Harger Cross Country Invitational Tuesday in Munising.The Miners had 60 points, with Sault Ste. Marie taking second with 98. Negaunee's Emily Paupore won the race in 19:20.4, and teammate Clara Johnson was second (19:56.7). Chassell was third overall in the team score (110) and St. Ignace was fourth (142). There were 16 girls teams from across the Upper Peninsula in the race. Individually, there were 126 girls running, with all but two of them finishing the race. The Escanaba Eskymos finished seventh, with 202 points. The Eskymos' top runner was Nicole Kamin, who placed sixth overall, in 21:18.5. The Gladstone Braves ended up 14th overall, with a score of 292. The Braves' top runner was Daisy Delaire, who placed 37th with a time of 23:23.9. Mid Peninsula's Daisy Englund finished tenth overall with a time of 21:44.
