Northern Women Shut Out Lake Erie Storm In Ohio
PAINESVILLE, Ohio----The Northern Michigan University women's soccer team shut out Lake Erie, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Jack Britt Memorial Field.
The Wildcats started the match on a strong note when Allyssa Milam took a shot on goal 49 seconds in that went high.
The rest of the first half remained scoreless. Northern Michigan had the shot on goal advantage with five, compared to Lake Erie's three. Casey Durand broke the stalemate early in the second half with an unassisted goal in the 48th minute.
Madison Hamilla capped the scoring in the 76th minute, burying a Paula Hafner feed past Marissa Brannon.
Caroline Glantz saved all five shots on goal she faced. Hafner collected two shots on goal and an assist.
Northern Michigan returns to action this weekend, hosting Tiffin (Oct. 21, 4 p.m.) and Ashland (Oct. 23, 1 p.m.).
