Wolverines Season Ends With Loss To Forest Park

NEGAUNEE---The Mid Peninsula Wolverines had their season come to an end Monday night after the Forest Park Trojans posted a 73-45 victory in the Class D regional semifinals in Negaunee.

Top-ranked North Central beat Lake Linden-Hubbell, 79-54, in the other semifinal.

Mid Pen had an early lead at 4-2 when Damian Richmond scored inside, and Dooner Englund had a steal and scored on a layup in the other direction. The Trojans then blew out to a 21-8 lead, but the underdog Wolverines closed to within 21-15 at the end of the first quarter as Englund nailed a long three-point basket.

The Trojans pulled away from there to improve to 22-2 on the season.

Mid Peninsula's season ended with a 14-10 record.

Connor Kezerlie and Billy Ragio each scored 16 points to lead Forest Park, while Daniel Nocerini added ten points. The Wolverines got 14 points from Englund and 13 from Richmond. Terry Brower added seven points in the losing effort.

Forest Park and North Central will play for the regional championship Wednesday night.
