Wisconsin Basketball Title Dreams Come Up Short

From University of Wisconsin Athletics, and wire reports.

INDIANAPOLIS---The Wisconsin men's basketball team, playing in its first national title game since 1941, fell in a 68-63 thriller to Duke on Monday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Duke's Jahlil Okafor, the likely first pick in the NBA draft if he decides to leave, got outplayed by Badgers center Frank Kminsky.

But Okafor came through like a veteran when the pressure was highest.

He made two straight buckets over Kaminsky, sandwiched between a pair of 3-pointers from Tyus Jones, to help the Blue Devils (35-4) turn a one-time nine-point deficit into an eight-point lead with 1:22 left. A furious Wisconsin rally ensued, but it came up short.

Wisconsin ended its season with 36 wins, the most in program history, and captured Big Ten regular season and tournament titles along the way to the Final Four appearance.

Kaminsky had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Badgers. He was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team.
