Sluggish Broncos Win District Opener Over Wolves
HARRIS----When the Bark River-Harris Broncos faced the Carney-Nadeau Wolves in girls basketball last week, the Broncos were dominant from start-to-finish. The Broncos raced to a 39-6 lead at halftime and rolled to a 70-20 victory in that regular season c0ntest. But that tough Bronco defense forced numerous turnovers, and Bark River-Harris opened the post-season with a 58-19 win at the Bark River-Harris High School Gym. The Broncos hoisted 50 shots in the first 14 minutes of the game, making only a quarter of them. But BR-H still led, 12-2, after the first quarter, and 33-4, at halftime. BR-H Coach Paul Anderson freely substituted throughout the game, and ten different girls scored. Allissa Willa scored 14 points to lead all scorers. Katie Schultz and Kelsey Boucher each added eight points, while Caitlyn Frazer and Hannah Starnes both scored seven points. Sam Charlier had six points and Taylor Linder added five for Carney-Nadeau (6-15). Bark River-Harris (19-2) will travel to Stephenson Wednesday night for the Class D district semifinals.
