MUNISING MUSTANGS GOING TO FORD FIELD!!

MARQUETTE--- The Munising Mustangs are partying like it's 1980.

The Mustang football team is taking its dream season to the ultimate level: the state championship game at the home of the Detroit Lions: Ford Field.

Munising advanced to the finals by posting a 10-7 win over the Beal City Aggies in the Division Eight state semifinals Friday night at the Superior Dome.

Andy Cooper's 33-yard field goal with six minutes left in the game broke a 7-7 tie for the Mustangs, then the Munising defense stopped the Beal City attack with two minutes left.

The game was a scoreless tie until the third quarter, when Munising's Garrett Blank broke free for a 62-yard touchdown. Cooper's extra point made it 7-0. But the Aggies (10-3) got even seconds later when Chase Rollin took the ensuing kickoff 99 yard to the house.

The score stayed tied until Munising (12-1) got that field goal with 6:22 left.

Blank ended up with 220 yards rishing on 26 carries for the Mustangs. Alex Hill led the way defensively with twelve tackles, and Correy Cotey had ten tackles.

Munising will play in the Division Eight state title game Friday morning at 10 a.m.
