Green Bay Packer CB Davon House Visits Escanaba

ESCANABA---Green Bay Packers cornerback Davon House (#31) visited Escanaba Tuesday night to raise money for the Marine Corps "Toys For Tots" program for disadvantaged kids in Delta and Dickinson Counties.

The event was organized by the Escanaba Public Safety Department, with help from the Escanaba Wal-Mart store (where the event was held), as well as Marine volunteers.

House, who wears #31, says Packer players love doing these kinds of events.

"I would say that 90-percent of the guys on the team do a lot of these things for the community," House said. "We are community-owned. We love our fans. We love the experience. So, I love it. There are Green and Gold fans everywhere."

House signed autographs for free, as long as people made donations of new, unwrapped toys for "Toys For Tots", or made cash or gift card donations to the cause.

"We've had a tremendous turnout here tonight," said Escanaba Wal-Mart Manager Christine Bauer. "We've had over 100 people in line, donating for Toys For Tots."

As for this football season, House says that the Packers are disappointed with Sunday night's loss in New Orleans, which dropped Green Bay's record to 5-3 on the season.

"From watching the film, there's some things that we can do better," House said. "There were some self-inflicted wounds, and what-not. We'll bounce back after this bye week."

The Packers do not play this weekend. So, what will the guys be doing?

"Sleep," House smiled. "Rest. Be around family. And do a whole-lot-of-nothing. Which is good!"

And how about his hand injury? He shook hands with his opposite hand Tuesday night.

"It's doing good," House said. "It's a little sore. But I played through it against the Saints. This week-off (bye-week) is big!"
