Saints, Trojans Advance To State Semifinals At MSU
 The Saint Ignace Saints and Forest Park Trojans both won their state quarterfinal girls basketball games on Tuesday, and advanced to the semifinals at Michigan State University. In Class C, the Saints beat McBain, 54-37. Abbey Ostman scored 19 points and Kelley Wright added 15 for St. Ignace (23-2). The Saints marched to a 16-2 lead after one quarter, and the lead was never cut below double digits. It was 27-14 Saints at halftime. In Class D, the Trojans topped Posen, 69-56. But Forest Park trailed entering the fourth quarter, 47-46, and the Trojans led by just six with less than a minute left in the game. The Trojans made 12 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter as they wore down the Vikings with their team depth. Lexi Gussert scored 26 points and Kendra Campbell chipped in 18 points for the Trojans (25-0). Meredith Hamlett led McBain with 19 points. St. Ignace faces Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett Thursday afternoon at 2:50 at MSU's Breslin Center. The game will be broadcast on WCHT-AM (600) and rrnsports.com.
