L'Anse Girls Pull Away Late To Top Norway, 65-54
ESCANABA---The L'Anse High School girls basketball team advanced to the Class C Regional Final by beating the Norway Knights, 65-54, in Tuesday night's semifinal. Kelsey Ross scored 18 points to lead the Hornets (20-3) to the victory. Abbey Hendrickson added 13 points and Madi Swanson also chipped in 13 points. In the second half, the Hornets built their biggest lead of the game at 51-40. But the Knights scored seven straight points to get to within four, and then halfway through the fourth quarter, Norway closed to within 53-51. L'Anse had the answer every time Norway rallied. The Knights missed too many free throws and had several missed lay-ups down the stretch. L'Anse closed the game on a 12-3 run to win going away. Norway (8-14) was led by Ashley Zanon, who scored 21 points, and freshman Britta Grayvold, who scored 15.
