MARATHON HEARTBREAKER: Forest Park Season Ends In Semifinals

BATTLE CREEK---The Forest Park High School volleyball team had its great season come to an end on Thursday with a 3-2 loss to the Fowler Eagles in the MHSAA Division Four state semifinal match at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek. The Eagles won the first two sets in overtime, 26-24 and 30-28, but the Trojans didn't give up. Crystal Falls won the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-19, forcing a winner-take-alll fifth set as chants of "U.P. Power" rained down from the huge Forest Park fan base. Fowler regained control, though, in that fifth set, jumping to a 10-2 lead and winning, 15-8.

Ava Fischer led Forest Park with 27 kills. Fowler's Paige Thelen had a whopping 32 kills to kead her team.

Forest Park finished its season with a 42-2-0 record. Fowler moves to the state championship match woth a 35-8-2 record.
