Tadisch, Jandt Given MCCAA Conference Honors

This story was written by Bay College SID Mike Pankow

ESCANABA, MI –
The Michigan Community College Athletic Association announced their post season awards for volleyball.

Bay College had two student-athletes represent the Norse.  Kylee Tadisch (FR, Coleman, WI) was named to the MCCAA All-Freshman Team and Second Team All-Northern Conference while Tori Jandt (FR, Peshtigo, WI) was named Honorable Mention All-Northern Conference.

Tadisch, a middle hitter, led the Norse overall in kills (195), kills per set (2.07), attack percentage (.181) and total blocks (57).  In conference play she led the Norse in all of those categories again, including a higher kills per set rate at 2.12.

"Kylee played great at the net all year," said Head Coach Dan Porath.  "Not only hitting, but her blocking was great this year too.  I am glad to see her get recognition for it."

Jandt wore the libero jersey for Bay this year and was awarded the MCCAA Defensive Player of the Week three times early in the season.  She amassed 503 digs on the season, which came out to 5.59 digs per set.  She was also second on the team in service aces with 36.  She was stronger in conference play as she averaged 5.83 digs per set against MCCAA Northern Conference teams.

Coach Porath also commented on Jandt's season.  "Tori played great defense this year.  She improved her serve receive throughout the year as well."

"I say this all the time too," added Porath.  "Individual awards in a team sport cannot happen without their teammates.  The whole team should take pride in helping them be honored with these awards."

The Norse Volleyball Team wrapped up their first season of play with a berth to the NJCAA Division II Great Lakes District B Women's Volleyball Championship.  They finished the year with an 11-17 record and a 3-7 conference record in a division that has two qualifiers for the National Championship (Grand Rapids Community College and Muskegon Community College).
