The Superiorland men’s league championship game was held in the rain Monday night in Escanaba, and the host Mikey D’s Beer Cave team won the championship in six innings, 11-1, over the Channing Railroaders.
The Escanaba Polecats Mikey D’s Beer Cave baseball team won the Superiorland Baseball championship Monday night over the the top-seeded Channing Railsplitters, 6-0, in northern Dickinson County. Bark River-Harris graduate and Bay College alum Jack Bower threw a complete game. Escanaba graduate and former Norse Jake LaFave had three hits at the plate. Escanaba earned the right to play against Copper Country Twilight League champion Stanton Building Supply in the U.P. championship game, which will be played next month.

The Escanaba Polecats played their Wishigan League home opener on Wednesday, and it was a successful debut. After splitting a doubleheader in Peshtigo on Sunday, the Polecats beat the Tri-City North Stars of Negaunee, 4-1. Jon Bintner pitched the whole way for the win and Jared Dagenais paced the offense with three hits.
The Escanaba Polecats fell behind 3-0 early on in Wednesday's Wishigan League game against the Felch Rangers, and the Dickinson County team didn't even hit the ball out of the infield. The Escanaba Polecats rallied from two runs down and beat the Ishpeming-Marquette-Negaunee North Stars, 4-3, in Wishigan Men's League baseball Wednesday night at Al Ness Field. Team Coach Jon Bintner got the game-winning hit and also pitched the final three innings in relief of starting pitcher Josh Brodersen.
