The Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association on Friday releeasesd its All-U.P. boys basketball teams. A group of 18 reporters from across the entire U.P. met earlier in the week in Marquette to make the selections. Westwood Patriots senior Ethan Marta was chosen as Mr. Basketball, along with being the Division 1-3 Player of the Year and member of the all-class Dream Team. The Dollar Bay High School boys basketball team battled hard Thuirsday night, but lost to Detroit Douglass, 58-47, in the MHSAA Division Four state semifinal at the Breslin Center. The Escanaba 9-10 girls softball All-Star team posted a 6-1 win over the Norway All-Stars Sunday evening at Norway's Marion Park. The win sent the Escanaba girls into the 16-team state tournament, set for the end of this month in downstate Bay City.
