ISHPEMING---
The Bay College Norse women's basketball team grew its incoming class by three more players this week as Coach Todd Chiochetto continues to build on last season's surprising success.

Ciochetto went to Texas earlier this week to sign Kyra Anders, a 6-foot guard from Krum High School, to a National Letter of Intent to come to Escanaba this fall.

Then on Friday, the trip was a lot shorter as Ciochetto signed two members of the state champion Ishpeming Hematites to letters: Jenna Maki and Kaddie Kaukola. Maki was the Upper Peninsula Division Four Player of the Year, and runner-up for Miss U.P. Basketball after leading the Hematites to its first-ever state championship.

And then on Friday, a bonus: Bay College volleyball coach Dan Porath also brought home a recruit from Ishpeming: Alexis Morton, who was also on the state champion basketball team.

The Bay women's basketball team started its first season udner Ciochetto with a 4-7 record in 2023-24, before running off 17 straight wins to ultimately finish as conferenece co-champions and a school-best 22-9 record. Ciochetto has vowed to have a full roster of 18 players next season, after having far fewer numbers in his first season.

Earlier this recruiting season, Ciochetto signed Bark River-Harris senior Lauren Zawada, Anna Axtell of Menominee, and Baraga senior Makenna Hendrickson.

The Bay women's volleyball team will start its third-ever season this fall after making the conference tournament in both of the first two seasons in 2022 and 2023.
