Hannahville Boys Start Strong But Big Bay Prevails

HANNAHVILLE----The Hannahville Soaring Eagles shot the lights out in the first half Monday night and had the Big Bay deNoc Black Bears on the ropes.

But the visitors from the Garden Peninsula pulled together late in the second quarter, and then took over in the third and fourth quarters to post a 68-54 non-conference win.

Hannahville's Seth Williams (32) shoots as Big Bay's Bobby Holmberg (10) watches.
Hannahville made eight three-point baskets in the first half and led by as many as 12 points during the first 16 minutes. Justin Larson had three of the long shots, while Seth Williams and Martin Thornbahn each had two treys. Stephen Keezer also had a three.

Hannahville led at one point, 27-15, as the Big Bay shooting was off and its rebounding was sporadic. But Coach Pat Groleau's team started to warm up late in the second quarter, closing to within 35-32 at halftime.

And the Black Bears took control of the game in the second half, limiting the Eagles to just 19 points over the final 16 minutes.

"They pressed us and we made some turnovers that changed the game," Hannahville Coach Seth Miller said. "It was a great game, though."

Seth Williams led the Eagles with 22 points, despite missing several minutes of the second half with a thigh injury. Justin Larson and Steve Keezer both had 12 points.

Cole Potvin and Zach Pomeroy both scored 20 points in the win for Big Bay deNoc.

The Black Bears improved to 2-9 on the season. Hannahville's record dropped to 8-2.
