Marquette Pulls Away In 2nd Half To Top Eskymos
 ESCANABA----For more than two quarters of play, the Escanaba High School girls basketball team did the best it could against the favored Marquette Redettes. The girls played tough defense, and hustled up and down the floor, to keep it a close game as long as they could. Marquette led by just three points in the third quarter, but pulled away for a 52-35 Great Northern Conference victory at the Escanaba Gym. The score was just 6-5 after one quarter of play, and the Redettes led, 19-16, at halftime. Michelle LaFave scored ten of the Eskymos' 16 first half points, including a pair of three point baskets late in the second quarter. But Marquette took control of the game in the third quarter. Hunter Viitala led the Redettes with 18 points, while Lydia Kurin added ten points. The Eskymos got 19 points and 13 rebounds from LaFave. Jenshak added eight points.
