CRUISE CONTROL: Bay Women Top Harper, 56-5
ESCANABA---The Bay College women’s basketball team scored the game’s first 30 points and rolled to a 56-5 win over the Harper College (Illinois) Hawks Saturday night in Escanaba. The game ended in the final minute of the third quarter when the Hawks head coach pulled his team off the court. He had received two technical fouls and the Hawks do not have an assistant coach. “It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen,” Bay College Coach Rob Robinson said, noting that his team stopped pressing on defense after forcing 26 turnovers in the first half. “It’s 100-percent weird. We actually scored more when we went to a half-court defense. It really sucked the atmosphere out of here." Twelve of the 13 Bay College players scored, led by Brooke Mannor’s nine points on three triples. Haley Trudell hit two three’s and finished with eight points. Holly Wardynski added seven points andBrooke Dalgord contributed six points. The Norse led, 23-0, after the first quarter, and 35-2 at halftime. Harper College fell to 0-9 on the season. Bay College (8-3) will host Milwaukee Tech Saturday afternoon at 2:00. The game will be broadcast on WGMV-FM (Maverick 106.3) and on-line at www.radioresultsnetwork.com.
