Eskymos Can't Hold Early Lead; Settle For TC Split
TRAVERSE CITY---The Escanaba Eskymos played well but couldn't hold a 2-0 lead on Saturday, losing to Woodhaven, 4-2, at the North/South Hockey Showcase at Traverse City's Centre Ice Arena. Nick Kolich scored off a nice pass from Grant Wickham, then Ayden Mylander scored, so the Eskymos had a 2-0 lead after the first period. Escanaba still led, 2-1, going to the third period, but the Warriors scored three goals in the final period to earn the win. Trevor Denome made 35 saves in net for the Eskymos. On Friday, the Eskymos beat the Bay City Wolves, 4-1. Kyle Krutina scored two goals, and Wickham and Kolich also scored. Kolich's goal was an empty-netter. Ethan Silverstone had two assists, and Denome stopped 22 of 23 shots in net. Escanaba is now 7-7-0 on the season. The Eskymos travel to Marquette on Thursday for a ruvalry matchup at Lakeview Arena.
