DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE: Norse Stop Milwaukee
ESCANABA---The Bay College women's basketball team won its seventh straight game on Sunday, and the ladies did it with a suffocating defense in a 75-40 win over the Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers at the Bay College YMCA Gym. The Norse limited the Stormers to just 13 points in the first half and forced 21 turnovers along the way. Bay also outrebounded Milwaukee Tech, 55-36. Jordan Kraemer led the way offensively with 19 points in just 19 mintes of play. Every woman on the Norse roster scored, and nobody played more than 21 minutes. Brooke Dalgord led the team in rebounds with seven, and Megan Robinette came off the bench to nail two three-pointers and a long two-pointer to finish with eight points. The Norse (10-5) have now won seven straight games after losing by 64 points to Mid Michigan. The girls did not lose a game in the entire month of December. The Stormers (3-10) were led by Coryae Welsey's 12 points, but that came on 3-for-13 shooting as the Norse guards hounded her all afternoon long. As a team, the Stormers made just five of 27 three-point attempts. Bay was 8-for-19. The Norse have a scrimmage in Canada on Thursday before returning to competition on Saturday at home against Silver Lake College. Game time is 1:00. It will be broadcast on Maverick 106.3 FM and on-line at www.radioresultsnetwork.com.
