2017 High School Girls Tennis Season Gets Started
ESCANABA---The 2017 high school girls tennis season got under way Wednesday across the Upper Peninsula. In Escanaba, the Eskymos opened the season with a Great Northern Conference match-up against the Marquette Redettes, under bright, sunny skies. The Eskymos are led by senior Taylor Gauthier at #1 singles. She posted one of Escanaba's victories on Wednesday in its 6-2 loss to Marquette, beating the Redettes' Hannah Swajanen in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Jasmin Clark had Escanaba's other win at #3. "They're still young in the sense of their tennis ability," Lueneburg said of his girls. "They're still learning. Some of these kids have only been playing for three weeks, and some for about five days. So, that's our situation. I'm just trying to bring them along."
