Four Escanaba Eskymos Named To All-State Teams
Four members of the state semifinalist Escanaba Eskymos have been named to the Division Two All-State softball teams by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association. Katie Ross (pictured below), who will play softball at Ferris State University, was a First Team selection. She batted .542 this season with six home runs and 43 runs batted-in in 96 at-bats. She had a .585 on-base percentage, and on defense, had a .972 fielding percentage. Senior Catcher Taylor Segorski (pictured at top) batted .461 with two home runs and 32 runs batted in this season, with 41 hits in 89 at-bats. Behind the plate, Segorski did not commit an error all season long, and she threw out eight of the 14 girls who tried to steal against her. She was named to the SecondTeam/Honorable Mention. And freshman Gabi Salo was named First Team All-Stater in the pitcher’s circle, where she compiled a 14-and-3 record with a tint 0.90 Earned Run Average. Salo struck out 150 batters and walked just 20 in 93 and two-thirds innings. And she made no errors all season long defensively. The Eskymos finished with a 37-and-5 record, falling to Richmond in last Thursday’s state semifinal game at Michigan State University. |
