Rapid River Takes Doubleheader From Stephenson
 DAGGETT---The Rapid River High School softball team swept both ends of a doubleheader on Monday, beating the Stephenson Eagles, 17-2 and 20-7. In the first game, Lexi Trombley was Rapid River's winning pitcher. Kristen Goodacre had a bases-loaded double, while Ellie Moberg and Gwen Naeyaert both had bases-loaded triples. That accounted for nine of the Rapid River's' runs. In the second game, Rhiley Hubert was the winning pitcher. Erica Rubick hit for the cycle (single, double, triple, home run) and drove in six runs. Brittany Schwartz had three hits, including a home run and three runs batted in. Erica Proehl had two triples, a double, and three runs batted in. Tina Olsen added four base hits and three runs batted in. Those four girls combined for 15 RBI in that game. Rapid River improved to 4-3 on the season, with all three losses coming last weekend to larger schools (Gladstone, Norway, Marquette) inside the Superior Dome. The Rockets have their home opener Wednesday at 4:00 against Munising. |
