Ishpeming's Maino Signs To Play Hoops For Norse
This story is courtesy of Bay College ISHPEMING---Marissa Maino, a senior from Ishpeming High School has signed a NJCAA Letter of Intent to play for the inaugural women’s basketball team at Bay College. Maino signed her letter at a ceremony Friday afternoon at Ishpeming High School. Maino has had a successful basketball career for the Hematites, earning Mid Pen Conference 2nd Team accolades in 2016 & 2017, as well as All UP 2nd team in 2016. In 2015 she received Honorable Mention Mid Pen Conference and served as team captain in 2015-2017. Maino was also selected as a Top 20 shooter by the MHSAA following her senior season. In addition to basketball, Maino also excelled in Track & Field, earning many awards, including All-State, as well as holding the UP record for Division 2 in the shot put. Maino excels in the classroom, as well. She carries a 3.8 GPA, is a member of the National Honor society, and has been a member of the All State Academic team for both track and basketball. “Rissa has a great sense for the game," Bay College Coach Rae Drake said. "She can shoot the 3 and also can score with her back to the basket. She understands angles, which makes her a fine passer. Rissa also excels in the classroom. I am excited to have her a part of the Bay College Women’s basketball family.” |
