Gladstone Tops Gwinn In Basketball Home Opener
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School girls basketball team had a big second quarter and powered past the Gwinn Model Towners, 54-32, Friday night in Gladstone. It was a battle of two teams with short benches. Gladstone had just nine players available and Gwinn suited up just seven girls. After Gladstone led, 11-9, after the first quarter, Gwinn was unable to score a basket in the entire second quarter. The Braves allowed just three free throws in the quarter, and ended up outscoring the visitors, 15-3, to take a 26-12 lead at halftime. Gwinn hit three three-pointers in the third quarter, but could not cut into the deficit. All nine Braves players scored at least one bucket. Taylor Hunter led all scorers with 19 points. Kaitlyn Hardwick added nine and Alyssa Polley scored eight points. Kia Evans had ten points to lead the Model Towners. |
